Mama to Two Awesome Kiddos
I am a lifetime coach and former competitive athlete who has always been fulfilled by changing people’s lives through movement. My transition into motherhood completely shifted my perspective on women’s strength, fitness, and wellness.
I’ve recognized that STRENGTH is a multi-faceted concept. We can be physically strong; able to lift 100 pounds over our heads or even give birth to a 10 pound baby! We can be mentally strong; managing stress, sticking to a routine, or continuing our education. And we can be emotionally strong; for ourselves, our friends, or our family during times of grief and joy. We won’t be amazing at all three at the same time, but it sure does feel awesome when we are!
I’ve learned that women’s FITNESS changes continuously: day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year. So our workout routines should reflect that. Women’s (bleeding) bodies are cyclical in nature. Our hormonal shifts throughout the month dictate our energy levels and should influence the type of movement we do. Sometimes we need a HIIT workout or a weight training session, while other days we might need restorative yoga or a nature walk... And then there can be the pregnancy and postpartum phases of life that demand other considerations! The sooner we accept that optimal fitness revolves around what the body tells us it needs, the sooner we can stop willing it to do something that it doesn’t.
I’ve discovered that WELLNESS is an essential component of any strength, fitness, or perinatal program. I strongly believe that nurturing your whole self is paramount to feeling great in life and finding success with your goals, no matter what they may be. My goal is to empower women with the knowledge and tools to better understand their current body’s needs and to nurture them accordingly.
